Nirṇayāmṛta

EAP790/21/44 Language : Sanskrit Scripts : Devanagari


A guide to the time and observance of religious ceremonies, with prakraṇa-s on śrāddha , tithi, vrata and aśauca, citing authorities. This manuscript refers to Sūryasenamahīmahendra as the author; though this attribution is found elsewhere, the majority describe him as the patron of the author Allāḍanāthasūri (14th to 16th century).him as the patron of the author Allāḍanāthasūri (14th to 16th century).

Contains the ‘Bagalāmukhī Karpūrastotra’ (ff. 1v‒6r), ‘Bagalāmukhīkavaca’ (ff. 6v‒7v), ‘Bagalāṣṭottaraśatanāmastotra’ (ff. 7v‒9r) and ‘Bagalāhṛdaya’ (ff. 18v–20r) from the Ṣaḍvidyāgama Sāṅkhyāyanatantra, and the Bagalāmukhīdivyāvakāradyaṣṭottarasahasraāmastotra’ (ff. 9r‒18v) from the Śaktiyāmala




Kṛṣṇajanmakathā

This gives the birth story of Śrī Kṛṣṇa from the tenth skandha of Bhāgavata Mahāpurāṇa (it covers three chapters).




Brāhmaṇasarvasva

This single folio of Halāyudha’s text (c. 1180) explaining the meaning of mantras used by brāhmins in daily observances has the opening verses of the ‘Granthārambhaproyojanam’ section. It was owned by Rāmaśaṃkaraśarman.




Śāntisāra

A work on propitiatory rites authored by Dinakara Bhaṭṭa (1575‒1640), son of Rāmakṛṣṇabhaṭṭa and grandson of Nārāyaṇabhaṭṭa. The manuscript contains all the chapters and a table of contents, ff. 208–209 are missing.




Nepālamāhātmya

This contains all 30 chapters of the Nepālamāhātmya, an account of Nepal’s sacred sites that describes itself as from the Skandapurāṇa’s Himavatakhaṇḍa




Cyavana Caritra

This contains three chapters (Adhyāya-s 98, 99 and 100) of ‘Chyavana Carita’ in ‘Gurutīrthamāhātmya’, part of the ‘Venopākhyāna’ from the Bhūmi Khaṇḍa of the Padma Purāṇa; includes the Vāsudevastotra (Padma Purāṇa, 2.98.40).




Siddhāntakaumudī

Prakaraṇa-s 1–22 (up to samāsānta) of the grammar authored by Bhaṭṭoji Dīkṣita (1547–1633); includes marginal annotations; foliation starts afresh in Prakaraṇa-s 15 and 16.




Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa Laṅkākānḍa

EAP790/21/55 Language : Sanskrit Scripts : Devanagari and Newari


This contains the section on Laṅkā in the Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, also known as the Yuddha Kāṇda, up to the chapter on Sītā’s agnipraveśa.
