Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa Kiṣkindhākāṇḍa

Varāhapurāṇa

EAP790/21/58 Language : Sanskrit Scripts : Devanagari


The Varāhapurāṇa, dated to the 10th–12th centuries CE, is predominantly a Vaiṣṇava work, but with Śaiva and Śākta elements. The extant work is said to be a composite of four parts written at different times. This manuscript has 152 folios, including the first adhyaya (Viṣṇu Stava), and the last two (Gokarṇa Māhātmya and the phalaśruti).




Homa Ratna

A ritual manual, stated in the colophon to be the first chapter of Ratnāvalīsāra by Gaurīdatta, a brahmin born in Nepal.




Manoramā

An auto-commentary on Siddhāntakaumudī by Bhaṭṭoji Dīkṣita (1547–1633), also known as Prauḍḥamanoramā.




Vāstuśāstra

This text on architecture has 13 chapters, 12 listed in the table of contents at the end: gṛhādinirmāṇesamayaśuddhi, kālavicāra, gṛhavicāra, śilānyāsavidhi, Prāsādalakṣaṇa, dvāranirmāṇavidhi, jalāśayādividhi, vṛkṣacchedanavidhi, gṛhapraveśavidhi, koṭavāstuvidhi, śalyoddhāravidhi, vedhavicāra.




Rājavijaya

EAP790/21/62 Language : Sanskrit Scripts : Devanagari


A work of military astrology by Raṇahasti (fl. 1400, Ratanpur, central India), also known as ‘Svaraśāstra’ or ‘Svarodaya’. It has sketches of weapons and war plans, and a table of contents at the end. The scribe is Sundarānanda.




Adhyātmarāmāyaṇa

A Vedantic interpretation of the Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, told as a dialogue (saṃvād) between Umā and Maheśvara. Its seven kāṇda-s correspond to those of Vālmīki; this manuscript goes up to the Sundarakāṇḍa, fifth chapter.




Bhagavadgītā (with Newāri Ṭīkā)

A complete text of the Bhagavadgītā, with a ṭīkā in Newāri framing the lines on each page. It opens with the Bhagavadgītāmālāmantra.




Rudrābhiṣeka

EAP790/21/66 Language : Sanskrit Scripts : Bengali


A ritual manual on offering pūjā to Śiva written in Medieval Bangla and dated 825 Nepal Saṃvat or 1704/1705 CE.




Śivapūjā

EAP790/21/67 Language : Sanskrit Scripts : Bengali


A ritual manual that includes the Mahāmṛtyuñjaya mantra written in Medieval Bangla (apparently in the same hand as EAP790/21/66, and possibly the first part of the text).




Naiṣadhacarita

EAP790/21/68 Language : Sanskrit Scripts : Newari


A mahākāvya authored by Śrīharṣa in the 12th century based on the story of Nala, king of Niṣadha. The manuscript contains 10 of 12 chapters and is dated Nepal Saṃvat 778 or 1657/1658 CE. The scribe is Viśveśvara.




Nityakarma

A collection of Sanskrit mantras with Newari titles for daily recitation and ritual offerings, including to the guru (1v), Sūrya and Candra (3v), Gaṇeśa (4v), Devī (4v), Bhagavatī (5r), Viṣṇu (5v), Nārāyaṇa (6r), Hanumāna (6r), Bhairava (6v), Sarasvatī (7r), Tulasi (7v), and to Vasundharā (8r).
