This is a dharmaśāstra text, with 30 verses based on the Āśauca part of the Yājñavalkyasmṛti and its commentary, Mitākṣarā. The authorship is therefore ascribed to Vijñāneśvara. The commentary seems to be written by one Bhaṭṭācārya (the NCC mentions a commentator of the same name).
